Hi! I am Amy Christine, nice to meet you! I am a Master of Wine based in Santa Barbara County and Los Angeles. A Master of Wine is a fancy title for a person who drinks too much. Another name for a person who drinks too much might also be a Wineslut.
I own a winery in Santa Barbara County, Holus Bolus, and a vineyard, The Joy Fantastic, with my husband. We have been making wine since 2005, with a focus on producing classic varieties in a classic region.
One day in the early spring of 2023, my husband and I were tasting the wines of an extraordinary winemaker in Santa Barbara County, who will heretofore go unnamed. He pulled a sample of rosé from a tank. I tasted it. I said, “Wow! This is great!” He said, “I made too much of it. I’m going to sell it.” I paused, “Sell this?? To whom??” (I said who, and not whom, but Google is telling me to say whom. I digress.) He didn’t have a buyer yet. So right then and there I said, “Sell it to ME!” And he did. And then my husband was like, what are you doing? But, poor guy, I paid no attention to him. Wineslut was born. History was made.
I look at this project as a way to be connected with my circle, my community of insanely talented winemakers in California. I taste. I blend. I hem and haw. I refine. I bottle. You drink. I drink too. 🙂
Let’s get this party started!
